Santos Mahognay

Here we installed Santos Mahogany, a dark, reddish brown wood, with moderate color variation. A very hard and stable wood, we were able to use boards up to 5" wide and 16' long. After installation, we used no stain, and finished the Santos Mahogany with an oil-based polyurethane. The warm Santos Mahogany is beautifully contrasted by the cool, white tile on the risers and the custom wrought iron railing. We conformed the flooring to the gentle curve of the second floor balcony overlooking the grand piano. We cut the stair treads wider on one side than the other to form the elegant circular staircase.
